My 3 Years as Frontend Developer
Front-end isn’t just about making interfaces, is about how you can think the way the user do, the importance of creating UX with a simple and beautiful UI.
I can’t forget my first day at work how shy I am, going through an unknown world with a little smile.
For a lazy student, going to a professional isn’t that easy. Waking up early, respect deadlines…
I can’t forget how much I suffered my first year it was like a challenge for me to change and growing up. Especially when I find that I need to learn more every day about technologies and new methods and wish one is better.
I spent long nights working hard to deliver good work quality, To be honest at a time I’ve been hard with myself and get more stressed because I thought that I should know everything In a very small time, but now I just joke about my self. I learned that no one supposed to know everything at one time, everyone will shine in some field and show his power in a very special thing.
I started my career as an IONIC developer, After few months I moved to Angular and focus more and more on front-end development, I fall in love with front-end making and I learn more and more about the importance of it in any web project.
You can’t have a successful project with complicated interfaces or bad performance. No one can deny the importance of every part of a web project, but you can’t show the power of your product if you have a bad front-end, so my responsibility is to create the good communication between users and interfaces.
My First Package:
I remember when a client needs a complete calendar (Day, Week, Month and Year) for his platform, the Angular calendar only contains three views and does not contain the year view, so I decided to create mine, and this is what happens.
I have created it and then I think about people like me who may need this calendar, So I create a package and publish it on npm under the name angular-calendar-year-view and the source code on GitHub.
npm: https://www.npmjs.com/package/angular-calendar-year-view
GitHub: https://github.com/MariemChaabeni/angular-calendar-year-view
Live Demo: https://angular-ft5znm.stackblitz.io/
My First Blog:
Last year, I was working with one of my team members on a files module wish we want to use the drag and drop method for uploading files using HostBinding and HostListener, and I remember in my first year when we need exactly the same functionality how much code we create code, So I create a simple Github project and a medium Blog to explain simply how it works.
To be honest I never think that I will receive the number of positive feedbacks and yeah, people like it because it’s simple and very useful and I really happy about that.
Career advise by Mariem:
- Focus on building professional relationships with your colleagues, and don’t confuse friendship with colleagues.
- Don’t be selfish, working with a cohesive team is much better than proving that you are the best. Always do the best for the team.
- Help, Help and help anyone needs you.
- Focus on some fields and make your profile. Be good at something and shine on it.
- Not everyone is good, some will never like you but never mind.
- If you find yourself in a negative environment, try to change it or leave. We only live once.
- Money is a very important thing and we work for it, but at the start of your career don’t make it your only goal. Make a good experience, then money will come to you.
- Stay away from negative colleagues, they will take all your energy.
- Never stop learning.
- You are not supposed to know everything, Major in something and learn a little about the rest.
